What league will my player be in?
We have noticed a growing number of 7 year old players “playing up” in PeeWees in recent years.  Because this league is reliant on beginning pitchers, PeeWees has a very high number of walks and strikeouts per game.  In many cases, we’ve seen individual players batting and defensive skill levels take a noticeable drop, as opportunities are not nearly as frequent as in our machine pitch leagues.  While there are exceptions, it has been our experience that most 7 year olds learn more, have a better experience, and are stronger ballplayers if they spend the year in Pintos.

We feel strongly that the reorganization of our younger leagues will provide a better experience for our 7 and 8 year old ballplayers.  It’s worth noting that the two board members with more advanced 7 year olds playing this Spring both feel they will have a better experience and progress faster in the Pinto 1 program than in the PeeWee league.

  Your player's skill level
Age on April 30, 2010 Beginner Medium Advanced Tryout Required?
5 Rookie Rookie Rookie No All 5 year olds must play in the Rookie League.
6 Rookie Sheltland Shetland No
7 Shetland Shetland or Pinto Pinto or Pee Wee Pee Wee only
PeeWee is a "pitchers league" that provides an opportunity for advanced 7 year olds to pitch, but more limited opportunites for batting and defensive play. If your advanced 7 year old is not a pitcher, we would strongly recommed they play in the Pinto Division.
8 Pinto Pinto or PeeWee PeeWee Pee Wee only Undrafted Pee Wee players will be assigned to a Pinto Division team.
